'Star Wars: Battlefront' News: $50 Season Pass Doubles Game's Content
Electronic Arts' "Star Wars: Battlefront" is already available for buyers after its release on November 17. For $60, gamers can purchase and play the much-awaited first- and third-person shooter video game which is also said to be a reboot of the original "Star Wars: Battlefront" series. Even before the game's release however, EA has also announced that a Season Pass for the game can be had for a whopping $50, which is considered high for additional content that is yet to arrive to the game. According to a report in Tech Times, fans of the game were taken aback by the Season Pass' price.
In order to appease its fans, however, EA and Dice eventually detailed the contents of the Season Pass which they think justifies its price. According to the report, EA provided details two days before the game was scheduled to be released.
The report noted that the upcoming content of the game will be doubled with the Season Pass. It is said to bring 16 new multiplayer maps, which will be featuring several new planets but does not include the free Battle of Jakku map. Not much detail about these new maps was given however.
In terms of available gameplay modes, the Season Pass is said to bring four new gameplay modes, which were also not detailed. Four new Hero characters will be joining the game via the DLCs, while a set of 20 new customization items are also included.
Content-wise, the DLC plan for the game seemed to provide more than enough new content. The Season Pass also provides owners with early access to the DLC, making it available to them two weeks earlier than everyone else.
What most buyers are fearful of, as the report cites, is the fact that the game developer may still not provide the content it indicated in its DLC plan after all. As most games go, new content is usually under development or is yet to be developed when the game is released.
