'Star Wars: Episode VIII' News: Screen Writer Shares Experience
Fans have been anticipating the upcoming installment of the "Star Wars" series.
The "Star Wars" craze has been carried over since the release of "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens." With that, there have been many reports revealing speculated details about the upcoming installment of the saga.
One of the most recent news regarding "Star Wars Episode VIII" revolves around Carrie Fisher's recent spoiler. Fisher shared a photo of the production chair for the movie, which reveals the code name for the upcoming film. The photo shows that "Star Wars Episode VIII" is going under the name of "Space Bear."
The franchise is known to use code names in its previous films. "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" went under the code name "Foodies." It was also revealed that "Return of the Jedi" was under the name of "Blue Harvest."
Aside from the code name, the screenwriter behind the "Star Wars" franchise recently spoke to LA Times about his experience in writing for the films. He explained what he enjoyed about writing for the film series.
When asked if Han Solo was his favorite character to write dialogue for, he stated, "Always. It started with the first movie, and it's really one moment when they break into the cellblock and he has this conversation with the Stormtroopers over the comlink. They question him and he runs out of answers and he shoots the comlink and says, 'It was a boring conversation anyway.' That's my favorite moment probably in all of 'Star Wars.' And that's Han."
He also explained that he found it easy to get into the character's head. He said, "You know, he's younger in this [spin-off] movie and that's fun because you have to imagine him 10 years earlier in his early 20s."
"Star Wars Episode VIII" will hit theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
