'Suits' Spoilers, News Details: Mike Passes the Bar; Jessica-Based Spin-Off Coming Soon
USA Network's popular legal drama, "Suits," wrapped up its sixth season on Wednesday, March 1, leaving Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) a full-fledged lawyer after passing the New York State bar exam.
Despite Mike's extensive knowledge and experience in the legal field, viewers know that he was a fake lawyer the whole time he was working at Pearson Specter Litt and has even spent time in prison because of that.
Mike knew that he needed Harvey's (Gabriel Macht) help to convince the ethics committee to allow him to practice as a legitimate lawyer this time. However, his success was not possible without a last-minute intervention by Jessica (Gina Torres) who finally convinced Anita Gibbs (Leslie Hope) from the ethics committee to change her mind and welcome Mike into the legal profession.
Of course, after passing the bar, Mike was offered a job at Pearson Specter Litt. And this time, being a legitimate attorney-at-law, he accepted.
It does seems like a good outcome for Pearson Specter Litt, and for the seventh season, fans may expect Mike and Harvey to be back at work in the firm.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Aaron Korsh teased that they (including the fans) miss Mike and Harvey's working relationship. "We all missed them sort of having some fun and having some banter and working a little bit like the old days," Korsh said, adding that in the upcoming season, it will be different as Mike is no longer a fake lawyer.
Korsh also added that they wanted to see how the firm goes with Oliver (Jordan Johnson-Hinds) and Mike around, saying that they also want to explore how far could Mike go with Oliver being the "green guy." "So, it just felt like it was time to get the band together and see what happens from there," he said.
In other news, a spin-off of "Suits" is currently in the works and Korsh confirmed that the show will center on Jessica.
In addition, the executive producer reveals that it was actress Torres who pitched the idea of the spin-off, and that they got excited over its potential.
However, the plan is still at its early stages and Korsh says they "haven't landed on anything yet."
