'Super Smash Bros. 4' DLC with New Characters Coming Soon?

A new "Super Smash Bros. 4" DLC with new characters is rumored to be coming soon just a month after the latest DLC was released.

Last month, a new DLC for "Super Smash Bros. 4" was released, but fans were dismayed because it only offered new costumes and not new characters. Recently, images of the game character Shovel Knight were leaked, prompting fans to speculate that new characters are coming soon after all, according to Yibada.

A photo of the Shovel Knight amiibo figure was recently posted on Nintendo's website, but it was later on taken down. However, some who have seen the image took screenshots and circulated it on social networks.

Nintendo and Yacht Games Club have released statements saying the Shovel Knight will not be part of "Super Smash Bros. 4," CrossMap reports.

However, there are still reports contradicting Nintendo's statement and saying the Shovel Knight will be available in the next "Super Smash Bros. 4" DLC as a playable character. It will also be accompanied by a host of other new characters, the report details.

In addition, members of the "Super Smash Bros." online community have found indications in the new patch that strengthen the speculations about the upcoming characters.

"The 1.1.1 Smash update has 3 empty character slots and 4 (2 Ω, 2 norm) stage slots, an increase of one each. Neat," Yibada quotes "Super Smash Bros." community user Neoxon's post on NeoGaf.

One of the empty character slots might be reserved for Shovel Knight. Professor Layton is also rumored to be the other character coming in the next DLC of "Super Smash Bros. 4." In addition, two new stages have been spotted in the source code of the recent update, the report relays.

Based on a survey conducted by Nintendo that ended on Oct. 3, many fans have expressed their desire to have the Shovel Knight added to the "Super Smash Bros. 4" character roster. However, Nintendo still has not released the results of the poll, so fans will have to wait patiently until an official announcement is made about the rumored "Super Smash Bros. 4" DLC.
