'Supergirl' Season 1 Episode 8 Spoilers: Supergirl and Astra Battle Each Other in Winter Finale

"Supergirl" is scheduled to take a break for the winter, and fans are excited to know what will happen in the upcoming winter finale. At the end of the last episode, Astra (Laura Benanti) was seen ambushing her niece, Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), and in "Hostile Takeover," the title of the next episode, the two Kryptonians will be seen battling each other.

According to Carter Matt, it will become a very personal fight between the aunt and niece, and fans wonder what grudges Alura Zor-El's twin sister holds against Kara and her family. The website also pointed out that this will be an epic battle, since both are powerful Kryptonians, which is unlike the other aliens that Supergirl has fought in the past.

The Futon Critic posted the show's winter finale synopsis, and it reads, "Kara goes toe-to-toe with Astra when her aunt challenges Kara's beliefs about her mother. Also, Cat is threatened with being removed as the CEO of CatCo after a hacker exposes her private and damaging emails."

The episode was directed by Karen Gaviola and was written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Caitlin Parrish. Guest stars include Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, Jenna Dewan-Tatum as Lucy Lane, and Eric Steinberg as Commander Gor.

Meanwhile, Hank Henshaw's (David Harewood) real identity is finally revealed in the last episode, and he told Alex (Chyler Leigh) the truth about her dad's, Jeremiah Danvers (Dean Cain), untimely death. Hank Henshaw is really The Martian Manhunter, or J'on J'onzz, an alien that Jeremiah died saving in the jungles of Peru, according to TV Line.

The green-skinned alien also said that he promised Alex and Kara's dad that he'll watch out for his two daughters, which is why he took over Hank Henshaw's identity. The Martian Manhunter lost all of his own kind, even his family, and he consider the Danvers sisters as his own children. "Having lost his own children, [Jonn's] got a lot of pain and melancholy, which is fantastic to play. These two girls represent something that's very close to him," Harewood said, according to the website.

Watch the winter finale of "Supergirl" next Monday, Dec. 14, on CBS.
