'Superstore' Season 3 Renewed News: NBC Confirms Another 22-Episode Run
NBC sitcom "Superstore" is confirmed to be renewed for a third season, as announced by the network on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
The single-camera series focuses on a group of employees who work for a fictional retail store, Cloud 9, located in St. Louis, Missouri.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke shared in a statement that the network is "extremely proud" of the show, calling it one of the "smartest and funniest comedies on television today."
"Our producers and cast do a remarkable job touching on many issues in which audiences can relate. To its credit, not only does Superstore make us laugh, but it makes us think as well." Salke added.

The show stars America Ferrera, Ben Feldman, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nichole Bloom and Mark McKinney, all playing employees of "Cloud 9."
Despite mixed reviews during its first season run, "Superstore" garnered more positive reviews as it moved along quite well towards its second season.
The show performed well in terms of viewership and is a favorite among NBC executives, thus the renewal did not came as a surprise. In its second season alone, "Superstore" has an average of a 1.2 rating in the 18 to 49 age demographic. It also proved to be doing well in NBC's online streaming service and Hulu as it garnered more than 33 million viewers across platforms.
The second season of the show originally consisted of only 13 episodes, but due to its good ratings, NBC ordered nine more episodes - making the show 22 episodes long. The upcoming third season is also confirmed to have 22 episodes and will air in 2017 up to 2018, but no release date has been specified yet.
Aside from "Superstore," NBC shows such as "The Good Place" and the popular family drama "This Is Us" are also confirmed for a season renewal.
