Surface Phone Rumors: Next Windows Mobile Device to be Modular
While everything about the existence of the Surface Phone is just a speculation, rumors claiming that it will be a unique device continue to persist. If the latest reports are to be believed, the upcoming mobile device from Microsoft may be a modular sort of smartphone.
Rumors about the Surface Phone have been around for more than a year already but Microsoft has yet to officially confirm the existence of the said device. Despite this, rumors on what the device will look like and offer continue to swirl online.
Rumors suggest that the Surface Phone will be a modular smartphone as seen on the supposed leaked images of the device's concept. In the recently leaked images believed to be those of the Surface Phone, the smartphone will come with a keyboard and a stylus that will be bundled with the device.
The leaked concept also reveals that the Surface Phone has a selfie screen, a game controller case, and an edge-to-edge display. While the phone looks bulky, there is no denying that it looks stunning in different colors and deviates from the usual black or white.
However, no one outside Microsoft can really tell as of this writing how the Surface Phone will look like as the Redmond-based company has applied for several patents. Among those patents, one that has caught the fancy of gadget aficionados was the patent showing that it will be a foldable/expandable device.
One thing is certain, though. While it's unclear if the next mobile device of Microsoft will be called the Surface Phone, it will surely deviate from the conventional look of the smartphones in the market today as promised by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
"We will continue to be in the phone market not as defined by today's market leaders, but by what it is that we can uniquely do in what is the most ultimate mobile device," Nadella said in an interview with the Australian Financial Review in November last year.
