'Teen Wolf' Creator Explains Series Finale Ending
After a six-season run, MTV's supernatural drama "Teen Wolf" aired its final episode, but the ending felt more like a beginning of a new adventure for Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) and his pack.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, creator Jeff Davis explained why they decided to leave the story with a cliffhanger. According to Davis, he looked at other series finales to figure out what is best for the show. While some may leave viewers gasping for more, others will make audiences wonder what is next.
" I thought about what kind of series finale fits this show best, and to me, it was, 'And the adventure continues ...'," Davis told the publication.
"I want to know that Scott and his friends have many more stories to tell," Davis said about the open-ended finale. "This story isn't over. He goes off and fights many more battles, makes new friends, faces down new enemies.
When asked about the young werewolf Alec's (Ben Wadsworth) involvement in the continuation of "Teen Wolf," first as a podcast and then the rebooted version, Davis said that they did not intend to introduce a new character to revive the show.
For the creator, Alec represents the audience, an outsider who can always find comfort with the pack.
For the uninitiated, MTV has no plans to let go of the "Teen Wolf" franchise yet. The network is in talks with Davis to turn the series into an anthology, with the reboot featuring an all-new cast.
When asked about why they will return in podcast form prior to the reboot, Davis said that the medium is quite popular these days and classic radio dramas are making a comeback.
The creator admitted that there are vast possibilities for spin-offs. One particular idea that he wants to explore has to do with Jackson and Ethan in London. He also said that if they can get Daniel Sharman to reprise his role as Isaac for the podcast, he would. The actor has done audiobook recordings before so he would do great with podcasts.
