Teresa Giudice: 'Real Housewives' Star to Get First Visit From Family This Weekend

Teresa Giudice's family will be visiting the incarcerated reality star at the Danbury prison in Connecticut over the weekend. The mother of four reported to jail last Jan. 5 to begin serving her 15-month sentence for bank fraud. However, the visit did not happen, and many are wondering why Teresa's husband Joe and their four daughters were a no-show at the federal prison.

According to a source from Reality Tea, it was Teresa's wish that her girls should follow their normal routine and that their daily activities should not be disrupted because she's in jail. As for Joe, E! News reports that he couldn't make it to Danbury because he's a co-defendant in Teresa's case and needs special clearance, which he didn't receive in time for the visit.

"Joe took Gia to her cheer competitions all weekend," said the source. "Gia had competitions Saturday and Sunday. Teresa doesn't want any disruption in their schedules to come visit her. She misses them terribly, but wants their life to be as normal as possible."

And though it was previously reported that Teresa had doubts about her husband becoming their daughters' primary caregiver once she's in jail, the source says that Joe is doing a good job taking care of the girls.

"Everyone had their doubts about Joe, but he is doing a fantastic job caring for the girls. He has a handle on it and is really there for them," the insider said.

Joe reportedly gets some help from both his and Teresa's family.

"Joe is with his brother a lot and his sister in law helps with the kids as well. Teresa's parents and Joe's family are a constant source of love and support for Joe and the girls," the source told E! News. "Joe will take the kids to see Teresa this weekend. They speak to her daily and Teresa is able to email."

It has been previously reported that Teresa is allowed to receive incoming phone calls and send and receive emails through the Danbury prison's secure system. All of her outgoing emails are limited to 13,000 characters and are previewed by a jail official before being sent.
