'That's So Raven' Spinoff Get Season 2 Order From Disney
The future looks bright for Disney's "That's So Raven" spinoff.
"Raven's Home" has been renewed for a second season, according to reports. The series starring Raven-Symoné will officially have a sophomore run, with production scheduled to resume next month. The network has yet to announce a premiere date for the new installment since season 1 is still on air.
The series is a reboot of Symoné's hit Disney series "That's So Raven," which aired from 2003 to 2007. She also serves as executive producer on the show. "Raven's Home" follows Raven and her longtime best friend Chelsea (original "That's So Raven" cast member Anneliese van der Pol), who are both divorced and with kids of their own.
Living under one roof, Chelsea and Raven deal with new challenges as single moms. Raven still secretly sees the future but unbeknownst to her, her son Booker (Issac Ryan Brown) also has the ability to see into the future.
"We are incredibly proud of our first season and the fact that Raven has returned home to Disney Channel in a very big way," said Disney Channels Worldwide executive vice president for original programming Adam Bonnett in a press statement. "The entire cast and crew have delivered a classic family sitcom that kids and families will be watching for many years to come."
The sitcom premiered in July with a strong sampling. Four million viewers tuned in for Symoné's TV comeback, 1.3 million of them kids aged 6 to 11. Although its live tune-in numbers have since decreased, Disney noted that the show continues to have 4.5 million episodic views across different platforms.
Friday's episode will see Booker and Levi (Jason Maybaum) give their beloved mothers a special gift. The two young boys surprise Raven and Chelsea with tickets to a La Dee Da concert, and both moms are obviously thrilled to see their favorite performers live on stage.
The first season of "Raven's Home" currently airs every Friday night at 8 p.m. EDT on Disney.
