'The Flash' Season 3 Episode 17: Music Meister Traps Kara, Barry in a Movie Musical

After airing an intense episode the previous week, the 17th episode of The CW's "The Flash" season 3 will be a lighter viewing experience. Titled "Duet," this week's episode will show Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) crossing over to The Flash's Earth-1 for a very special musical event.

Last Tuesday night, March 14, on "The Flash," Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) traveled into the Speed Force to save Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) from a perpetual prison in which he is forced to watch the death of his mother in an endless time loop. During his mission, Barry encountered the Speed Force, appearing to him in forms of people from his past.

After preventing a showdown with a time wraith and defeating Black Flash, Barry was able to save Wally but at a heavy cost. A speedster had to take Wally's place in the eternal prison, and though Barry wanted to sacrifice himself, Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp) ended up doing it instead.

In the process of saving Wally, Barry learned an important lesson — only he can stop Savitar (voiced by Tobin Bell). The episode ended with Barry breaking up with Iris (Candice Patton) so he can focus all his attention on saving her life.

Episode 17 of "The Flash" season 3 will pick up where this week's episode of "Supergirl" will end. Toward the end of this week's episode of "Supergirl," Kara will be rendered unconscious by the Music Meister (Darren Criss) and it will be up to Team Flash to save her. However, just like Kara, Barry will end up trapped in an alternate world that appears to be a movie a musical and their only way to survive is by singing and dancing.

The official synopsis of the "The Flash" season 3 episode 17 reads:

"Barry and team are surprised when Mon-El (Chris Wood) and Hank Henshaw (David Harewood) arrive on their Earth carrying a comatose Supergirl who was whammied by the Music Meister. Unable to wake her up, they turn to Team Flash to save her. However, the Music Meister surprises the Flash and puts him in a similar coma, one that Team Flash can't cure. Kara and Barry wake up without their powers in an alternate reality where life is like a musical and the only way to escape is by following the script, complete with singing and dancing, to the end."

"The Flash" season 3, episode 17 is scheduled to air on Tuesday, March 21 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
