'The Good Wife' Season 6 Spoilers: Taye Diggs Joins Cast as New Lawyer

"The Good Wife" will feature a new character played by Taye Diggs when it returns this fall. Diggs has joined the hit CBS series for a multi-episode arc, sources confirmed.

Diggs will play newcomer Dean Levine-Wilkins, an equity partner at Lockhart/Gardner. He will join Diane Lockhart as she crosses over to work with Alicia and Cary at their firm, Florrick/Algos. While it's unknown how he will be written out of the series, fans know that there will be plenty of drama just by Diane leaving her own firm to join the new team … taking clients and others with her.

"We couldn't be more excited to have Taye on the show," co-creators Robert and Michelle King said in a press release. "We've been huge fans for years, and love his ability to play comedy and drama with equal ease."

The fifth season was full of drama: Will Gardner was shot and killed, Alicia left her law firm and separated from her husband. In the last episode, Diane left her own firm and Eli Gold asked Alicia to run for state's attorney. There are numerous opportunities for writers to take in this upcoming season, which is one reason fans are so attracted to the show and it is one of CBS' top series.

Diggs currently stars on TNT's series "Murder in the First," but will switch over to "The Good Wife" come this September. He is incredibly happy to be joining the cast and tweeted the news to his fans.

"Hyped to be joining the stellar cast of the extraordinary @TheGoodWife_CBS!" Diggs tweeted yesterday.

Fans immediately responded with their congratulations and best wishes for the star.

"Awesome news!! Love The Good Wife. So deliciously good! Congrats Taye! Look forward to seeing what you bring!" user Mindy tweeted.

"That's awesome! It's only the best drama on network TV! Totally see you fitting perfectly in it. Nice pick!" Francesco Cerniglia added.

"The Good Wife" returns to CBS on September 21.
