The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds Plays Better on the 3DS Compared to 2DS
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds becomes a slightly different game on the 2DS once the 3D element of the game is taken away.
"It's not that you can't play it with 2D, it's just that it becomes clearer when you have the 3D effect on," said the game's director, Eiji Aonuma to GameSpot. "We found out about the 2DS during development, not before, and we also made changes so that we were sure that you could still play and solve the puzzles only with 2D. It's definitely still playable in 2D!"
However, unlike some of the other 3DS games, this game's 3D is involved with the gameplay, not just something to be looked at.
"A Link Between Worlds is being developed with 60 frames per second," he said, "and previous Zelda titles were about half that, about 30fps. The reason for this is because the 3D effect is much more stable with a higher frame rate, with the 60fps. If it's lower then it's sometimes hard for your eyes to focus on the appropriate image."
He continued, "We think we've created a game that even those who found it difficult previously to see the 3D effect would be able to see it better and enjoy it more with this title."
According to Gamespot, A Link Between Worlds is a sequel to SNES classic, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
"If it was just a remake, then I think I'd be nervous about meeting people's expectations. But in this case it's a sequel, so it's the same world but it's a completely new game with completely new features. I think we've been able to create a game that's able to be enjoyed by all users, even though who have played A Link to the Past before," Aonuma said.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is going to be available in two different bundles, one in the U.K. and one in the U.S.
The bundle for the U.S. may be paired with the 3DS XL, according to a Black Friday leaked flyer for GameStop. The bundle will go for $219.99.
Polygon said GameStop confirmed to them that the leak was true.
In the U.K. the bundle will include a physical copy of the game, a musical cartridge chest, a poster, and a digital download of the game The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.
The promotion is through the U.K. company, GAME, and it goes for £49.99.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds arrives on shelves on November 22.
