'The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia' Deluxe Edition Set for April 2018 Release
Comic publisher Dark Horse has announced that it will release "The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia" next year.
The 320-page book's English version is up for an April 2018 debut, according to reports. The deluxe edition will cover all the places, characters and things from the first 30 years of Nintendo's classic role-playing game (RPG) franchise. While the standard version has the same style of cover as the past two Zelda books "Arts & Artifacts" and "Hyrule Historia," the upcoming Deluxe Edition boasts a special design that will certainly appeal to longtime fans of the game.
The deluxe hardcover is covered in gold foil paper — designed with various debossed, embossed and textured features. It also appears like it just came out of a big NES console because of its black polypropylene sleeve, which comes with an instruction booklet. The retail listing from Dark Horse indicates the book includes an "extensive database of items and enemies," as well as "rare development sketches" of fan-favorite characters from the original game.
"The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia" serves as the last installment in the "Goddess Collection trilogy." Comicbook.com points out that it almost seems like an official scrapbook that the people behind the game came up with to highlight all their hard work. Fans have yet to get a peek inside the book, but it is certainly something that every major fan would be happy to own.
Both versions of "The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia" can be purchased starting April 24, 2018. The standard version will retail for $23.99, while the Deluxe Edition will be available for $79.99. Although that may be a huge price jump for many, it's difficult to deny that the Deluxe Edition looks significantly better than the base version.
"The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia" had already been published earlier this year in Japanese.
