'The Newsroom' Season 3 Release Date: Nov. 9, Premiere Plot Centered Around Boston Bombing

"The Newsroom" is an American television political drama series which was created by Aaron Sorkin and premiered on the HBO network on June 24, 2012. The story revolves around the fictional Atlantis Cable News and its behind-the-scenes events of anchor Will McAvoy and his staff.

Early this year, HBO confirmed that the series has been renewed for a third and final season which will consist of six episodes. The season is scheduled to premiere on Nov. 9 later this year.

For the third season, it has been revealed by a launch trailer that Sorkin will be exploring the Boston bombing in depth and has integrated it into the series' story arc. In the trailer, McAvoy played by Jeff Daniels is heard saying, "We don't do good TV. We do the news."

McAvoy presents a speech to his team regarding the acquisition of proper and credible sources about the bombing. Neal Sampat will then be shown documents which are considered risky in terms of national security. Fortunately, the documents are said to be obtained legally. Of course, if the team chooses to release the information, there will be legal trouble.

The release of the information will be in conjunction to Sorkin's revelation of the Wikileaks-type information dumping. The revelation will also be explained in the third season with Neal saying that "social media will crack the case."

It's not all news and conspiracies though, other story arcs will be seen in the new season such as Dan and Sloan's relationship as well as Reese and Leona's. Mac has been seen firing a gun in the trailer but it is still unknown how it will fit in with the storyline.
