NFL 2015 News, Rumors: Wants a $500 Million Fee for LA Relocation
The NFL is a business, and as a business its job is to make money. That is what the NFL is today and it is no different than most other American businesses these days.
With that in mind, Pro Football Talk is reporting that any team wanting to transfer to Los Angeles will face a $500 million relocation fee. Since two teams want to call Los Angeles home, that means the NFL could potentially make $1 billion dollars before a new home is built for teams in the LA market.
Teams "will ordinarily be expected to pay a transfer fee to the League," the NFL's relocation policy states. It is aimed at compensating other teams for the loss of the opportunity to move to the new market themselves and/or accounting for the enhanced value of the franchise arising from the move.

Some have criticized that an owner who can afford to pay the league $500 million should not need taxpayer money to help build a stadium in LA. This would make Stan Kroenke, owner of the St. Louis Rams, the ideal LA relocation candidate, given that he can build a stadium with private money.
That way the NFL can collect its billion dollars, and get itself back into the biggest TV market in the country, and not have the headache of more arguments against publically funded stadiums.
