'The Originals' Season 2 Spoilers: Marcel Gets Flashbacks

"The Originals" is an American television series which airs on The CW network. The series was created by Julie Plec and first premiered on October 3, 2013 after "The Vampire Diaries." On Feb. 13 earlier this year, The CW renewed the series for a second season run which premiered Oct. 6 earlier this month.

The second season looks to be all about the Original family but judging from what transpired during the series' maiden run, Marcel isn't looking to simply turn over his hard-earned control to Klaus Mikaelson.

Season 1 saw Marcel struggling to maintain control of New Orleans and by the time he had regained full control of the city, he had lost nearly all of the vampires – many of which were friends who fought by his side. It's only been two episodes into the second season and Marcel is rebuilding his army and he is not to allow any Originals to get in his way.

Charles Michael Davis, who plays as Marcel in the series, shares some insight into the development of his character from the first season into the second season.

"In Season 1, Marcel deferred to Klaus a lot and in Season 2, it's a bout Marcel finding his own voice and mediating in his own way. The writers and I had talked about getting Marcel back to the Marcel from the pilot, but things had changed for him," Davis says.

While Marcel grows in power in New Orleans, a lot of flashbacks will reveal much of the character's past. Davis reveals that his character will be getting another flashback but this time, it will be solely about his character.

"It's about how Marcel hot his leadership skills but I can say it's not related to New Orleans. In it, he departs his home to find out who he is and what he's made of and goes on an adventure where he meets new enemies, externally and internally," Davis said.

"The Originals" airs on The CW every Monday at 8 P.M. EST.
