'The Path' Season 3 Spoilers: Eddie Does Not Wish to Be Known as a Cult Leader
Eddie (Aaron Paul) will make sure to change people's perspective on the Meyerist religion in the upcoming season of "The Path."
A trailer released for Hulu's provocative drama series shows Eddie, the movement's new leader, labouring to prove that theirs is not a cult. As he mentions in the clip, the Meyerism's reach continues to expand, but they will not be sticking to the old adage that his people have come to embrace. Instead, Eddie is gearing towards building a new face in their faith. To make this happen, he will tap on the skills of the group's new publicist Vera (to be played by Freida Pinto).
As the new Guardian of the Light, Eddie has no wish to be known as a cult leader. He and Cal (Hugh Dancy) will have to work hard to change the others' negative impression of the group. Cal, however, will probably be not as committed as the other. It has been teased that he will be haunted by the demons from his past. Cal will have to face these dark thoughts head-on in order to move on. As for Sarah (Michelle Monaghan), she will be torn between the new world order and the old.
In an April interview, series creator Jessica Goldberg teased about what they have in store for the three main characters in the series. According to her, there would a huge shake-up happening among Eddie, Cal and Sarah. Sarah is still reeling from Eddie's choice. The cliffhanger in the last finale, where Cal welcomed the excommunicated inside, would also be resolved and would have a huge effect on the storyline.
"We definitely went for the cliffhanger at the end of this season," Goldberg said. "It was a big shake-up. Eddie finally accepts his mantle. Sarah tried to get him to do what he always wanted to do, which was walk away. It's very tragic, in that way; choosing the lord over the lady, so to speak."
"The Path" season 3 will air on Wednesday, Jan. 17 on Hulu.
