'The Vampire Diaries' Final Season News: Elena Wakes Up in Finale Episode Teaser
The CW's supernatural drama "The Vampire Diaries" is already on its final season, and fans are anticipating the grand comeback of Elena (Nina Dobrev) on the show.
In a newly released teaser clip by The CW, Elena is already awake and is asking herself: "What happened? Why am I here right now?" The finale is titled "I Was Feeling Epic" and is scheduled to air on Friday, March 10.
To backtrack, Elena was locked safely in a coffin by Bonnie (Kat Graham) and has been linked to her through a Heretic spell since season 6. Meanwhile, fans waited the whole part of season 7 for news of her return.
As to why Elena finally woke up in the teaser, this is something that fans have speculated about for a long time, but the final answer will be revealed once the episode airs in March.
The most common speculation, however, since the previous season is that Bonnie might have met her end, thus breaking the spell that linked her and Elena which then caused for the latter to finally wake up. But there are also some who suggest that it may be possible for Elena to have lost all her memories, and this could be a let-down to Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and to most fans of the show.
Dobrev announced her comeback to the show through an Instagram post showing her script for the show's finale, with the caption, "I know it's Thursday, but this is not a TBT. #BackOnSet #TVDForever."
Show developers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson both expressed their delight when the news was officially made public.
"I'm thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended - with Nina back to help us say goodbye," Plec said in an E! Online statement. Williamson also added that they are excited to have Nina back and assures fans that the "farewell episode is truly epic."
New episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" air every Friday, 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
