'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Spoilers: Show Might Not Have Seen the Last Of Nina Dobrev

The upcoming return of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will be bringing Klaus from "The Originals" over to their world.

It was previously revealed that the two series from The CW by Julie Plec, "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals," will soon receive a crossover episode. With that, fans are wondering if Klaus' presence will put an interesting twist to Stefan and Caroline's relationship.

Past episodes revealed that Klaus, played by Joseph Morgan, was in love with Caroline, played by Candice Accola-King. However, now that Caroline is still in a relationship with Stefan, played by Paul Wesley, there are questions regarding the effect of this presence on their relationship.

With that, the executive producer of the series, Plec, recently spoke to TV Line about what will happen among the three. She stated, "Stefan's now with Caroline, and Klaus, of course, has just gone through everything he's gone through with Cami. They actually have a surprisingly civil and honest conversation about love — what it means and the sacrifices that you have to make in the name of it."

Meanwhile, fans can also expect Stefan to make an appearance in an upcoming episode of "The Originals." It was revealed that Stefan will be taking a trip to New Orleans, where he will visit the Mikaelsons.

It is speculated that the crossover is a way to engage the viewers, since it was reported that the series experienced a drop in ratings after the exit of the show's main character, Elena, played by Nina Dobrev.

However, Plec also hinted at the possibility of Dobrev coming back to the series. According to TV Line, she stated, "I basically committed to Ian [Somerhalder] and Paul [Wesley] that when they're ready to be done, I'll be done. There is still a chapter of [Elena's] story left to be told. [I'll] take [Dobrev] for whatever she's willing to do to tell that story."

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 is expected to return on The CW this Jan. 29.
