'The Voice' Season 9 News: Two Fan-Favorite Contestants Were Sent Home Early On

"The Voice" is now in its ninth season, and the competition is definitely tougher this year.

The NBC reality show is now on its famous "The Battles" round, which allows coaches to pit singers against each other. During the Battles, the coaches, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, and Pharell Williams, will chose two from their team, select a song for both singers to sing, and choose a winner between the two.

On the second night of "The Battles," the coaches bid good-bye to two early crowd-favorites this early on the competition.

Team Adam was first, and Manny Cabo and Keith Semple battled it out, singing "The Who's" "Baba O'Riley." Sadly, Adam chose Keith, with his more "memorable voice," as described by Entertainment Weekly. Viewers were surprised to see Manny go, since he did so well in his auditions, where he made all judges turn for him.

Another favorite left the competition, after Blake chose Chris Crump over Krista Hughes. The two sang Dolly Parton's "When I Get Where I'm Going," but Chris overpowered Krista's voice during the performance. Both Chris and Krista have a "four-chair turn" auditions, and fans were saddened to see Krista go.

A montage was seen right after Team Blake's performance, to fit "The Battles" in the show's one-hour time slot. Madi Davis won over Sydney Rhame for Team Pharell, and Kota Wade and Jeffery Austin won over Alex Kandel and Noah Jackson, respectively, for Team Gwen.

Performing "The Supremes" "You Keep Me Hangin' On" for the final Battle of the episode were Siahna Im and Ivonne Acero from Team Pharell. Pharell chose Siahna, and Ivonne was up for "steal." Both Gwen and Blake buzzed for Ivonne, but Ivonne chose Blake over Gwen.

"The Battle" continues on next week, and the coaches only have one steal left.

Watch "The Voice" every Monday and Tuesday on NBC.
