'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Spoilers: Negan Is 'A Game Changer', According to Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, whose highly-anticipated debut as the bat-wielding villain Negan in AMC's "The Walking Dead" is just a few weeks away, recently opened up about the character, as well as his mother's reaction to his casting in the popular zombie apocalypse series.

On a recent visit to comedian Seth Meyer's "Late Night" show, the 49-year-old actor said, "I can tell you sort of what's been announced, that is I'm joining the show…" "I play a character named Negan, and if you're a fan of the comic book, you'll know who Negan is," he added.

"I am," Meyers answered. "That's the real deal right there."

"The real deal," Morgan agreed. "He's a game changer and it's a complete 180 from what I'm doing on 'The Good Wife,' which as an actor it's a dream come true."

The actor also said that his mother was "devastated" when she found out that he had been cast as Negan, as she thought it meant the end of his character in CBS' "The Good Wife."

As fans of the "Walking Dead" comic book series know, Negan is one of the meanest villains that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the rest of the survivors from Alexandria will come across. A war is coming in the second half of "The Walking Dead" Season 6 - and not all of the Alexandrians will live through it. In fact, in the comics, Negan is responsible for ending the life of one of the most-beloved characters from the series: Glenn (Steven Yeun).

Meanwhile, Norman Reedus, who plays another fan favorite, Daryl Dixon, on the show, teased the upcoming conflict on "The Walking Dead," telling Empire, "I won't tell you who, when, and where, but I can promise you a fight."

The actor also said the second half of the show's sixth season will feature a lot of conflict and turmoil.

"The Walking Dead" returns with the back half of its sixth season on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 9 p.m. on AMC.
