'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Spoilers, Plot News: Show 'Pick[s] Up Right In That Moment,' Reveals Creator
Fans are less than a month away from the midseason premiere of AMC's popular zombie series "The Walking Dead" and from learning about what happened to Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the rest of the survivors from Alexandria. The last time viewers saw the band of survivors, they were making their way through a sea of the undead after their haven was overtaken by zombies.
Now, "TWD" executive producer Robert Kirkman has revealed that the second half of Season 6, which new promo images reveal to be an adaptation of the "A Larger World" storyline from the "Walking Dead" comics, will pick up right where fans last saw Rick and the gang. "We pick up right in that moment," Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly. He added: "Alexandria is overrun. Rick and the kids are all covered in guts trying to get through the crowd. Everyone is where we last saw them, and things get worse from there."
The "Walking Dead" comic book series creator also revealed that although Alexandria is currently teeming with hordes of the undead, that does not mean that the zombie apocalypse survivors will be abandoning the place for good. "It comes back to those plans of rebuilding Alexandria," Kirkman said.

According to the "TWD" EP, given that at least some of the survivors will make it through their current predicament, it's more than likely that they will try to reclaim Alexandria. Kirkman points out that the survivors had already talked about plans of not leaving the place in the midseason finale.
"It's a bump in the road, but there's something special there, and they can turn this into an anchor that they can build upon," he said.
"And from there, there will be other things that expand their world in new and terrifying ways," Kirkman teased.
"The Walking Dead" returns to continue its sixth season on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 9/8c on AMC.
