'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Spoilers: Will Daryl Die in Episode 9?

"The Walking Dead" did not feature any major character deaths in the first half of season 6, so fans are now wondering who will get killed during the mid-season premiere of the post-apocalyptic series.

Based on a recent revelation by "The Walking Dead" writer Robert Kirkman, a lot of people will die in season 6 episode 9. While fans are still not sure who will meet death next, a lot of hints in the show seem to point to Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), according to the Independent.

The introduction of Negan and his gang called the Saviors is a sign that another character will be killed off very soon. In the prologue clip, the gang corners Sasha, Daryl, and Abraham on the road and the mood of the scene does not look good, the Huffington Post reports.

Negan is seeking revenge for the death of some Saviors at the hands of Rick Grimes' group. The comics say Glenn will be Negan's victim, but there are some theories saying Daryl will take his place instead. There is already a leaked video showing Negan beating someone to death with his baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire, the report relays.

If the comics are to be followed, it would be Glenn. But the producers are unlikely to follow the original story after they aired Glenn's fake death. In addition, Daryl is nowhere to be found in the original story, and "The Walking Dead" has been known to deviate from the comics every once in a while, the report details.

Earlier this year, Andrew Lincoln told the Huffington Post that he literally dropped his script when he read episode 9. He said the plot for that episode is the craziest so far.

Now that Glenn and Rick are out of the question, only Carol and Daryl are the only options among the possible characters that will be killed off. However, showrunner Scott Gimple has already said he could definitely not kill Carol, so that leaves Daryl.

It is worth noting that Reedus is set to accept more television projects. He will also appear in a motorcycle show with AMC.

Fans have threatened to riot if Daryl dies, but it seems the management of "The Walking Dead" does not care. A riot may be coming when the series returns on Feb. 14.
