'The Walking Dead' Season 7 Trailer Has Zero Clues About Cliffhanger, Introduces New Characters [VIDEO]; Release Date, No. of Episodes Confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2016

As expected, the new trailer of AMC's "The Walking Dead" Season 7 fueled confusions instead of providing clues about its biggest cliffhanger last April.

Aside from showing the relentless misery and gore of the characters who could be the possible casualty of the baseball bat-wielding Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the chilling video also introduced a king and a ferocious tiger as new characters.

Unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, the three-minute trailer of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 started with the lunatic villain Negan cherry-picking his victim through "eeny meeny miny moe." Most of the characters who could be possibly killed by the antagonist's barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat were later highlighted with the flashback of the struggles that they endured just to survive.

There was also a split-second scene showing Negan teasing each character with his brutal weapon. A blood-soaked baseball bat was also disturbingly focused at a certain part of the new trailer.

The sneak peek did not provide any clue about the character who suffered brutal beatdown from Negan, however, executive producer Robert Kirkman assured fans that it will worth the wait.

"You're going to love who he killed! It's going to be great… A fantastic premiere to a fantastic season," Kirkman told the crowd at the Comic-Con, according to Los Angeles Times.

Andrew Lincoln, who played Rick Grimes, promised that Negan's victim will be unveiled in the season premiere. "It's a really shitty start of the season, but hang in there," the actor stated.

First Look at King Ezekiel & Shiva

Aside from Negan's spoiler-free kill scene, the new trailer of the zombie drama also provided the first glimpse of King Ezekiel (newcomer Khary Payton), his fearsome pet tiger on a leash named Shiva, and a never-seen-before community. According to the Rolling Stone, King Ezekiel is a fan favorite character who lords over a community of survivors called "the Kingdom."

In the comic, King Ezekiel is a former zookeeper who is known for despising Negan. He will team up with Rick Grimes and his squad to battle against the protagonist.

Release Date & Number of Episodes

"The Walking Dead" Season 7 will premiere Sunday, October 23 at 9 p.m. on AMC. The new season of the zombie drama series will be composed of 16 episodes, which will be divided into two parts. The first eight episodes will run in the fall while the second half will kick off in February 2017.
