'The Winds of Winter' Release Date, News: George R.R. Martin Reveals He's 'Still Working on It'
The release of George R.R. Martin's "The Winds of Winter" has long been delayed, and fans of his "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series have been clamoring for updates about it. Although the author has not yet announced a definite release date for the highly-anticipated book, he recently dropped a few details about its content.
For years, Martin has been mum about the details of "The Winds of Winter." Recently, however, the renowned author updated his fans via his LiveJournal blog and revealed that the release of his book might just be along with the release of his new series, "Fire and Blood," which tackles the history of the Targaryen lineage.
"I am still working on it, I am still months away (how many? Good question), I still have good days and bad days, and that's all I care to say. Whether WINDS or the first volume of FIRE AND BLOOD will be the first to hit the bookstores is hard to say at this juncture, but I do think you will have a Westeros book from me in 2018... and who knows, maybe two. A boy can dream," he wrote.
Earlier this year, there were speculations that Martin might surprise his fans with the release of his book on his birthday. Unfortunately, September has already passed, and no book was unveiled. Now, there are speculations that the author might actually be done with "The Winds of Winter" and might have already submitted his first draft to publishers.
Previously, Martin said that he had decided to set aside his other projects so he could have more time to finish the novel, leading to speculations that he might actually be done with the book by now. But without Martin confirming anything, everything is just a speculation. Recently, he also made an important Twitter announcement about one of his works, but it wasn't "The Winds of Winter" but the fifth volume of his sci-fi anthology "Wild Cards."
