'The Witcher 3' PS4, Xbox One, PC Unlock Date Announced

After several delays, "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" will finally be released. The open-world role-playing game developed by Polish-based CD Projekt Red announced that the game is now available for pre-order at a discounted price. The game also unlocks at 1 p.m. CET or 4 PM PDT/7PM EDT on May 18 for PS4 and Xbox One users. Its official launch will be on May 19.

Prior to the announced launch, the game was originally set for release at the last quarter of 2014 before it was moved to February of this year.

"We worked so damn hard over the past three years to bring you this game. From the corrupt nobles in Novigrad to ancient monsters lurking in deep forests, to the bustling cities, colorful ports and breathtaking vistas; all the people, all the places – we literally spend tens of thousands of hours to turn all that into an adventure that will kick your ass and make you want to come for more," CD Projekt Red head Adam Badowski told Gamespot.

To further fuel excitement, CD Projekt Red also announced that they included two major expansions for the game, an addition that gives the players over 30 hours of gameplay.

At last year's E3 event, the "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" trailer "Sword of Destiny" was shown and featured Geralt of Rivia in his attempt to save the mystery woman from the 'wild hunt' group.

The game's fighting system is completely improved, with the developers incorporating new mechanics including witcher-sense, underwater swimming, combat while on horseback, and use of crossbow. Geralt can now climb, jump, and vault over small obstacles.

With these improvements, players wouldn't mind 100 hours (50 hours for the main storyline and 50 from side quests) of game time.

"The Witcher 3" for PS4, Xbox One, and PC goes on a worldwide release on May 19.
