'The X Factor' 2015 News: 'X Factor' Cuts Sponsorship Ties With TalkTalk
Since TalkTalk got hacked last week, the company's shares have dropped dramatically. As a result, it has now suspended its marketing activities, including its adverts on TV. Unfortunately, one of the adverts that is included in the suspension is TalkTalk's sponsorship to the hit reality show "The X Factor."
The company provides an estimated £10 million sponsorship to the reality show, according to Reality Box, and now that it's gone, many fans wonder how it will affect ITV's most popular singing competition. The program has now removed its TalkTalk sponsorship idents on its commercials, as a response to the suspension in its Oct. 24 and Oct. 25 episodes.
The report also mentioned that the producers of the show and the network have been very understanding and supportive. It is not yet known when TalkTalk would resume its marketing activities; however, according to the website, a decision will be made later this week.
According to The Mirror UK, ever since the hacking was revealed in the news, TalkTalk's shares have dropped by 12.27 percent. The drop in shares happened after a group of hackers claimed that they were able to steal private information from the telecom company.
The report said that personal and financial information of TalkTalk's customers, including bank details, home addresses, and phone numbers, were stolen. However, the actual stolen details are said to be "materially lower" than those that were claimed to be stolen. The company claims that the attack targeted its website and not its "core systems." So their customers can be assured that their TalkTalk My Account login details were not stolen, as well as their financial details, since those are not stored on TalkTalk's website.
Meanwhile, "The X Factor" will start its Live Shows round this weekend on ITV.
