'The X-Files' Season 11 News: Promo Features Clawed Creature Looming Over Scully

A new promo for the upcoming season of "The X-Files" has just been released, featuring Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) together again. Although it's nice to see the duo engaging in new adventures again, what's more interesting about this new trailer is the presence of what seems to be an alien.

Titled "Help without Trust," the new promo sees Mulder and Scully enlisting the help of Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) and engaging in new suspenseful adventures. Although the clip is brief, it includes some pretty huge hints about the new season, including new government conspiracies and the introduction of an otherworldly creature. Aside from Mulder and Scully's fight and chase scenes, the clip also shows a clawed creature approaching Scully, suggesting that season 11 will introduce aliens.

Since previous interviews with the producers and cast members of the show and trailers so far released for the upcoming season reveal that season 11 will feature a huge deal of mythology, the appearance of aliens shouldn't come as a surprise for fans. The new season is also expected to address what happened to William, the baby born to the duo who was eventually put up for adoption.

"The X-Files" season 11 will consist of 10 episodes and will see the return of series creator Chris Carter and original stars Duchovny, Anderson, and Pileggi. Written by James Wong, Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan, and Carter, the new season will also feature William B. Davis, Annabeth Gish, Lauren Ambrose, and Robbie Amell.

The series returned in 2016, 13 years after it finished its initial nine-season run. Since the abbreviated season 10 was a success, renewing it for another season was an easy decision for both Fox and series creator Carter to make. The new season is currently in the works and is expected to premiere in January 2018.
