'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers and Cast Details: Will Victor Take Revenge Against Chloe; Will Michael Muhney Return as Adam Newman?

Long-running CBS drama series The Young and the Restless is in for a pretty powerful week, what with the alleged death of Adam (played by Justin Hartley) in a (tired soap plot twist) explosion. So it's a good thing we've got spoilers for Y&R fans: this Monday, Sept. 5, we'll see Adam's wife, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) biding her time at the secret penthouse hallway, although time is slowly running out for her and son Connor as the cops close in on them.

Sure enough, Kevin let Dylan and Paul into the penthouse, where Chelsea is forced to reveal herself to plead with them to search for Adam. She's told that Adam wasn't even on the plane as Paul arrests her. Kevin, on the other hand, calls Michael to help find Adam.

Meanwhile, Neil (Kristoff St. John) will unfortunately suffer a great loss this week. He and his estranged mother, Lucinda (Nichelle Nichols), who now lives in an assisted living facility, try to boost-start their relationship anew.

He's decided that he wants her to play a big role in his family and starts to update her about them, to which Lucinda lovingly advises him to be "good" to them, but their reunion is cut short as Lucinda quietly passes away. Neil's world is shattered as he discovers a note she left for him in the Bible before passing.

The note reveals that Lucinda regretted not being a better mother to him because of her alcoholism, but reminded him that she loved him very much. Lily, Devon, Hilary and Cane all come to support him through his ordeal.

Victor and Chloe come face-to-face

As for Victor (Eric Braeden), he's particularly torn up by Adam's loss, as he blames himself for everything that led right up to the tragic explosion. He, together with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) had framed Adam for Constance's murder, forcing Adam into jail even when he had the exonerating evidence to prove his innocence.

Speaking of Chloe, he comes face-to-face with her. Angered by her deception, Victor wants to take him out - before Chloe revealed that she shot Adam with a tranquilizer dart and said she wanted to watch him die. Even if she hadn't caused the cabin explosion, she still would have been guilty of Adam's ultimate demise - but unfortunately for Victor, Chelsea thinks he's the one who killed her husband.

Will Victor finally realize Chloe is the real enemy and avenge Adam? Find out soon!

New casting calls

Meanwhile, with Justin Hartley leaving the show to work on NBC's primetime series, "This Is Us," rumors float around that fan favorite Michael Muhney, who played Adam Newman in 2009-2014, would be rehired to play the character once more. It could be recalled, however, that it was never clear why Muhney left in the first place, which means there's still a lot of doubt with his return.

Surely, though, Muhney's return to Genoa City would bring delight to many fans. He's been greatly associated with the character for his special energy and amazing work, so rehiring him would be great news for everyone who wants Adam to earn his comeuppance.
