'This Is Us' Season 2 Air Date, Spoilers: Season Premiere Reveals Clues on How Jack Died

Fans of the hit NBC show "This Is Us" finally have an idea as to how Jack Pearson died.

The second season of NBC's "This Is Us" just gave some major clues regarding Jack Pearson's death. Titled "A Father's Advice," the season premiere explores more about Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) as he struggles with his demons.

In the season premiere, Mandy Moore's character, Rebecca, can be seen heading for Miguel's (Jon Huertas) apartment to mend her failing marriage with Jack. She arrives at the apartment only to be sent away by a drunk and embarrassed Jack after confessing his worsening alcoholism. Despite having the door closed on her, she persists and manages to convince Jack to get in the car with her, promising him that in a few months, everything would go back to normal.

The scene cuts back to Rebecca still driving her car with a bag presumably bearing the deceased Jack's belongings. Afterward, the biggest surprise of the episode was finally unveiled when Rebecca pulls up on the Pearsons' mailbox. The scene then focuses on the freshly burned down Pearson family home.

Jack Pearson could be one of the most loved fathers on television today, and while everyone who watches the show knows about his death, the manner of which he dies is still the show's biggest mystery. While the current season's premiere gave fans a big clue about Jack's death, it also revealed that Kate, Kevin and Randall were already teenagers when this happened.

After the episode finished airing, NBC released a video on Twitter featuring showrunner Dan Fogelman and actor Milo Ventimiglia discussing the big revelation.

"We've been teasing it as this big piece of a puzzle about Jack's death that's going to be unraveled, and I think with any puzzle, there's a bunch of clues at the end of the episode," Fogelman says in the video.

Fogelman also shared how Jack's struggles play an important role in the big reveal. "This guy is struggling with something, which I think is really humanizing and it's such an interesting color on this guy who's been so perfect all along. This is a big part of where we're going this season, is showing how difficult it is to be a good man and how difficult it's been for him," the showrunner went on to say.

"This Is Us" airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
