'Thor: Ragnarok' Spoilers: Mark Ruffalo Says Film Will Have A 'Really Interesting Arc' For The Hulk

Mark Ruffalo, who has played The Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films since 2012's "The Avengers," recently compared the forthcoming "Thor: Ragnarok," the third stand-alone "Thor" film, to a "universal road movie." Now, the 48-year-old actor, who is set to star opposite Chris Hemsworth (Thor) in the film, has revealed that though his character won't be starring in his own stand-alone film anytime in the near future, he will at least have "a really interesting arc" in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Speaking to Yahoo!, the actor admitted that he would love to do a solo "Hulk" movie, but said that it was beyond his control. Ruffalo took on the role of Bruce Banner/The Hulk from Edward Norton, who played the Green Goliath in the 2008 film "The Incredible Hulk." The film was released by Universal Pictures just before Marvel Studios was bought by Disney.

Today, Universal still holds the solo rights for the Hulk films but has allowed the character to appear in the MCU films "The Avengers" (2012) and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015). Apart from "Thor: Ragnarok," The Hulk will also be part of the action in the two-part "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018 and 2019).

"It's not on the horizon," Ruffalo said when asked about the possibility of having a stand-alone Hulk film. "And I don't know if it will be."

But fans of Banner/The Hulk shouldn't be too disappointed though as Ruffalo also revealed that the writers' treatment of the Hulk's storyline in the upcoming Marvel films will be such that viewers will feel like the character has had his own film.

"… we've worked a really interesting arc into 'Thor 3′, 'Avengers 3′ and '4′ for Banner that I think will – when it's all added up – will feel like a Hulk movie, a standalone movie," Ruffalo said.

"Thor: Ragnarok" hits U.S. movie theaters on November 3, 2017.
