Woods Scores First PGA Win Since 2009
Tiger Woods is back in the news, and this time it's for something he can be proud of. After a dry spell of over two years, Tiger Woods has brought home a win. Woods finished two over 70 to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill by five shots.
This was Woods' first PGA tour win since the 2009 sex scandal that put a blotch on the golfer's image. After a serious car crash outside Woods' home, an affair he was having came to light. This led to multiple other alleged mistresses coming forward. As a result, the golf star took a leave of absence from golf, split up with his wife, and lost many endorsement deals.
Tiger Woods faced even more obstacles. In recent years the golfer has been plagued with injuries. He was sidelined for three months last year due to an Achilles tendon injury, and there was fear that injury would return. Just two weeks ago, when competing at Doral, Woods was forced to leave the final round due to pain in his Achilles tendon, The Associated Press reports. The injury was nothing more than a slight strain, and Woods recovered quickly.

Tiger Woods felt confident at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He wore his patented bright red shirt and black pants, an outfit he only wears when he is playing well and feels unstoppable. This win was important to Woods.
''It's not like winning a major championship or anything,'' Woods said. ''But it certainly feels really good,'' Woods told The Associated Press.
The PGA champ remained humble, and kept his win in perspective.
''I've gotten better, and that's the main thing. I've been close for a number of tournaments now. And it was just a matter of staying the course and staying patient, keeping working on fine-tuning what we're doing. And here we are.''
