'Tokyo Ghoul:re' Latest News: Third 'Tokyo Ghoul' Season to Be Released in Spring 2018
The highly anticipated Japanese sequel anime series, "Tokyo Ghoul:re" has finally been given an official spring 2018 release. It is the third season of the Sui Ishida inspired anime series, "Tokyo Ghoul."
The upcoming series will be based on the manga series of the same name that was first serialized in the manga magazine "Weekly Young Jump" in 2014. It will be set two years following the events of the original series and will feature a character named Haise Sasaki, voiced by Natsuki Hanae, who is a member of the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG) and is the leader of a special squad of investigators known as Qunix Squad or Q Squad.
The Q Squad consists of humans implanted with a Ghoul's Kagune as a result of an experimental procedure. These implants have, in turn, given them Ghoul powers and abilities. It is up to Haise to teach these half-ghouls and turn them into outstanding investigators.
However, things get complicated when differing personalities of the troublesome members clash in the midst of Haise's struggles with his unstable grasp of his own Ghoul Powers.
The upcoming series will reportedly feature Natsuki Hanae as the voice of Haise, who will, later on, be revealed to be the original series protagonist, Ken Kaneki. Joining him are Kaito Ishikawa, Yuuma Uchida, Natsumi Fujiwara and Ayane Sakura, who will be providing the voices for the members of the Q Squad.
Pierrot is handling the animation under the direction of Odahiro Watanabe, who will be replacing Shuhei Morita. Chuuji Mikasano will still be in charge of the series composition, and will also be taking care of writing the scripts. Atsuko Nakajima will be taking over from Kazuhiro Miwa as the character designer.
"Tokyo Ghoul:re" premieres sometime in April 2018. The first and second seasons of the series previously aired in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
