'True Blood' Season 6 Episode 2, 'The Sun' Recap
HBO showed just the second episode of their hit drama 'True Blood," entitled "The Sun" Sunday night. From new characters to old characters returning to their roots, last night's episode did not disappoint.
Episode two, season six of the HBO vampire drama saw the introduction of a new character who appears to be human. Nicole, played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell, appeared for the first time Sunday. While it seems that she is a fully human character, there is certainly something odd about this new addition to the cast. She is all for vampire rights, and very interested in Sam, and seems to know a great deal about him and his past-- including the fact that he is a shapeshifter.
Jurnee Smollett-Bell is most well known for her work in "Friday Night Lights," and "Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor," Entertainment Weekly reported.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Smollett-Bell discussed her excitement for the upcoming season.
"My character, there's a lot of action which is fun. [Doing stunts] was new for me on a TV show. I'd done it in films, but this TV show feels like a film. You've got special effects, and wolves, and animals and blood! All this stuff that makes it feel like you're on a film set. It's so cool. It's so much fun it should be criminal," she said.
But it wasn't just new characters making waves on last night's "True Blood." The episode marked a turning point for Eric (Alexander Skarsgard). Fans of Eric from season one and two were pleased to see him return to a character more like that version of Eric.
When his family is attacked with anti-vampire technology and his bar gets shut down, Eric seems to go through a transformation. He becomes the aggressive vampire who delighted viewers in the first few seasons of the show. In "The Sun" Eric is quite violent, and even turns a human into a vampire in a bloody scene.
To see what will become of Nicole and Eric, tune in to next Sunday night's episode at 10 p.m. on HBO.
