'True Detective' Season 2 Cast to Feature Taylor Kitsch?
Season 2 of HBO's smash "True Detective" could feature actor Taylor Kitsch as a main character.
The 33-year-old is reportedly in talks with the network to join the series, according to The Wrap. Colin Farrell is also rumored to be joining the show for next year.
The two would replace Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey who were both nominated for Emmy's for their performances in the first season.
HBO's president Michael Lombardo commented on the casting process for season 2 at the Television Critics Association on July 10.
"I think people we will cast will be well-known names," he said. "But that wasn't our ambition."
Kitsch is best known for his role as Tim Riggins in "Friday Night Lights." He also starred alongside Mark Wahlberg in "Lone Survivor" earlier this year.
True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto made a statement last month that points to the possibility of the show ending after just three seasons.
He was interviewed during the Banff World Media Festival where he admitted that the writing for the show, which he handles by himself has all but burnt him out thanks to its anthology format.
"Every season, I'm essentially creating a brand new TV show," he said. "It can't have any growing pains like a regular first season. If it works it has to work right out of the box. That's incredibly exhausting. I mean, the job is exhausting to begin with, but it's doubly exhausting and I'm writing every episode."
Pizzolatto also admitted that at this rate, the show might only last three seasons with him as the sole writer.
"I can't imagine I would do this more than three years," he said. "I mean, I'd like to have a regular TV show. We'll have some fixes sets, regular actors and I could bring in people to help and I don't have to be there every second. It'd be great."
