UFC News 2016: Champ Luke Rockhold Wants Chris Weidman Rematch; Jon Jones Deletes Instagram Post Mocking Daniel Cormier
Reigning UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is eyeing for an immediate rematch against former champion Chris Weidman.
Rockhold defeated Weidman at UFC 194 via a fourth round TKO, ending the latter's two-year title reign.
In a report by David St. Martin for MMA Fighting, the 31-year-old fighter out of the famed American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) of San Jose, California says he is not fully satisfied with his previous performance against Weidman, adding that he is looking to "execute and be perfect next time."
Rockhold adds that if and when they do face each other the second time around, it would be a stronger statement that could very well break the former champion's spirit.
"I want to make a statement to where he never wants to come back and fight me again," Rockhold said, according to the MMA Fighting report. "That's what I'm looking to do every time."
A former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Rockhold boasts a professional mixed martial arts record of 15-2, with 13 victories by stoppage. Prior to his fight against Weidman on December 12th of the past year, he won all of his four fights via stoppage.
His notable victory before his championship fight was against former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida, whom he finished via second round submission in April.
Meanwhile, former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has gone back to his old ways when he posted an Instagram video mocking current champion Daniel Cormier, then deleting it afterwards.
"Bones" video was a response to a previous clip of Daniel Cormier during the weigh-ins of their fight at UFC 182 in January of the past year.
The second aforementioned clip featured Cormier pointing out how the crowd in attendance was cheering for him even if they did not like him, and that they just hated Jones.
The former pound-for-pound MMA king responded by mocking Cormier in a child-like manner. However, Cormier has also recently responded via a Twitter post.
Cormier and Jones are expected to face each other in a rematch for the title.
