Upcoming Nokia Phones 2015: New Lumia Tipped As Microsoft's Brand New Flagship
Last year, Microsoft decided to rebrand Nokia Lumia, and instead use its own name for upcoming Windows Phone handsets.
However, in a report by GSM Arena, a mysterious smartphone made it to the rumor mill, interestingly bearing a Nokia model number.
In the report, the device has a model number Nokia RM-1106, and appeared with a 5.2-inch display. The device allegedly appeared in benchmarking database GFXBench, and showcasing the 'usual' Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution.
In addition, the device reportedly has a 2.5D glass, a 17MP (or 20MP) primary camera that is capable of recording 2160p videos, and a 5MP selfie shooter that can record 1080p clips.
Based on the GFXBench listing, the device has a hexa-core CPU, and powered by a Snapdragon 810 chipset, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of built-in memory. Considering that Qualcomm's hexa-core CPU is the Snapdragon 808 and not the Snapdragon 810, the device could be one of a kind with this combination.
Aside from the alleged Lumia 940, which is named after the previous Nokia flagship, the Lumia 930, rumors are also pointing to a Lumia 940 XL that will aim at bigger rivals in the market.
Microsoft has done almost everything to keep its Windows Phone relevant in the market. While Windows 10 holds some promise, no one can still tell whether this would serve as the turning point for the Redmond giant.
