'Urahara' Episode 5 Spoilers: Have the Girls Been Harboring a Secret Enemy in their Midst?

Rito, Mari, and Kotoko may have reassured each other of the depth of their bond as friends, but can they really stay together as such when a potential traitor has been hanging out with them all along? Who is Misa, and what is her real intention for befriending the three magical girls on the Japanese action-fantasy anime series, "Urahara"?

After seeing strange purple marks appearing then disappearing on her friends' skin, Kotoko made it her mission to find out what could be causing such abnormalities by plucking hairs from their heads, even considering drawing blood samples from their veins.

She only ended up exhausting herself and collapsing on Rito's hand-drawn sign, which, in turn, made her think that her friends undoubtedly hated her now for causing nothing but trouble. The troubled girl subsequently found an unexpected friend in the Crepe Lady, who readily lend a kind ear to her worries.

In the end, Kotoko was able to tell her friends about the marks she has been seeing on their bodies, only to be reassured by Rito and Mari that she would never be left alone and that her friends would always be there and willing to share in her worries.

This reassurance also seems to have come at just the right time since it has now become apparent that the girls have no one else to trust but themselves.

In the final scene, Misa was shown changing the result of Kotoko's investigation from "Unknown substance detected" to "No abnormalities detected."

Why would Misa do such a thing to the girls who have accepted her in as a friend from their very first encounter? Could she secretly be working for the Scoopers to steal more of the girls' creativity? Or could there be a good reason behind her questionable action, which will be revealed in future episodes?

Also, what role will the Crepe Lady eventually play in Rito, Mari, and Kotoko's lives? Could she be a real friend, or will she turn out to be yet another potential enemy in disguise?

"Urahara" streams online on Wednesdays via AbemaTV. It also airs on Thursdays at 10 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX and will premiere on Monday, Oct. 9 at midnight JST on BS11. Information on other broadcast schedules and online resources can be found on the series' official site. Episodes will also be simulcast in selected regions outside Japan via Crunchyroll.
