VAIO Phone Biz Launched In Japan; Specs Include 5.5-Inch Display, 13MP Camera, Snapdragon 617 Chipset

Sony off-shoot VAIO has recently launched a new smartphone and it's a sleek Windows 10 Mobile model. According to Techno Buffalo, the device is dubbed as the Phone Biz and it is only going to be available in Japan, for now. There are no details yet on whether the device will be making its way to other countries but there's a possibility that it will.

Gizmodo detailed that as mid-range device, it will have a price tag of ¥50,000, roughly equivalent to $400. It will feature a 5.5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels. It's also revealed that for its design, it will be flaunting a sleek aluminum frame with soft corners and a slight curve in the back.

Under the hood, one will find a 1.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor that is paired with 3 GB of RAM. Gadgets 360 also noted that the Phone Biz is equipped with 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded further up to 64 GB via a microSD card. As for its camera specs, the device sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.

It is pre-installed with Windows 10 Mobile as its operating system and comes with Continuum support for the processor. This will allow the user to hook up a keyboard and mouse to the handset and also use it with a desktop display. But sources say that the Continuum hasn't been doing a great job in the past, even on more powerful processors.

Moreover, the latest smartphone of VAIO measures 156.10 x 77.00 x 8.30 mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 167 grams. It gets its power from a 2800 mAh non-removable battery. Its connectivity options include GPS, 4G and Wi-FI. It also has sensors which include Gyroscope and Accelerometer. The VAIO Phone Biz only supports single Micro-SIM.

VAIO is selling some laptops to the U.S. soon but it's not known if the Phone Biz will be able to make it to the western market as well.
