The network seems to have a tactic to attract former rap stars to feature on its shows, and so in addition to Vanilla Ice, the network bosses have also signed up Reverend Run of Run DMC to star in a new series next year starring with his wife and three children.

That series will focus on the Run family as they renovate their house.

Another musician scheduled to appear on the network soon is Daryl Hall, who has been signed up to feature on a show next year which will see him renovate a farmhouse in Connecticut.

Vanilla Ice's real name is Robert Matthew Van Winkle. He released his debut album, Hooked, in 1989 on Ichiban Records, before signing a contract with SBK Records, a record label of the EMI Group which released a reformatted version of the album under the title To the Extreme.

Van Winkle's single "Ice Ice Baby" was the first hip hop single to top the Billboard charts.
