Vatican Official Denounced for Anti-Life Stance
Some Catholics have expressed concern over the authority wielded by a Vatican official who is known to be opposed to traditional doctrine and an advocate of artificial contraception. He is Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo, chancellor of two dicasteries: Pontifical Academies of Sciences and Social Sciences.
Sorondo's influence is made apparent by the way he is allowed to lead Vatican conventions showcasing population control. At an Action Institute conference in Rome on Dec. 3, 2015, he made a connection between global warming and population explosion, Life Site reported.
His most recent expression of support for contraception was during the "Biological Extinction" conference, held from Feb. 27 to March 1, where he expressed that women ought to be educated to bear no more than two children.

"Many priests say to me that the great solution for the question of procreation is the education of the woman," he said. "Because when you have education, we don't have children."
Sorondo described this to be compliant with what catechism teaches that the state has a responsibility for its citizens' well-being.
"In this capacity, it is legitimate for the state to intervene to orient the demography of the population. This is also an idea of the Catholic Church," he said.
Steve Mosher, president of the pro-life Population Research Institute, reacted by saying that Sorondo doesn't understand why God created the world in the first place. He added that God has not rescinded His first commandment for man, which is to be fruitful and multiply or be generous in having children.
"Silence implies assent," Mosher went on, referring to Sorondo's failure to mention that artificial contraception is "intrinsically evil" based on Church teaching. "For him to hear contraceptives praised and promoted and not immediately contradict that position by stating what the position of the Church is makes him complicit in the misinformation that follows."
