Walking Dead Season 4 Spoilers: Premiere Date in October Could Spark Death of Major Characters (PREVIEW - TEASER TRAILER VIDEO)

The Walking Dead Season 4 is already a guaranteed smash hit, and millions of fans are eagerly awaiting the new season of the popular AMC series. The latest spoilers will do nothing to calm the nerves of fans, and have pointed to rumors that a number of major characters are set to be killed off on the show.

The show has been ruthless to some of its most popular characters over the years, and through the first three seasons fans had to watch Sophia, Dale, Shane, T-Dog, Lori, Merle and Andrea, among many others be killed off one by one.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise to fans that script writers are planning to kill off more characters when the show recommences for Season 4.

According to the latest spoilers on the rumor mill, it is the Greene family patriarch, Hershel, who will be one of the first for the chop on Season 4.

The rumors have seemingly been sparked by actor Norman Reedus, who posted a series of Instagram photos; and those along with fans using their general knowledge about cast rituals, have put two and two together.

Towards the end of July, Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon, posted some photos of a dinner he attended with some other cast members.

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the photo contained Jon Bernthal (deceased Shane Walsh) and Sarah Wayne Callies (deceased Lori Grimes). The photo has led to speculation that the cast were holding a "death dinner," gathering together a number of past cast members who had been killed off on the show.

The Walking Dead cast have made a tradition of holding "death dinners" every time one of the major characters have bitten the dust.

"It gives everyone a chance to get properly sauced and say, 'We're going to miss the hell out of you,'" Callies told Rolling Stone after her character was killed in Season 3. "Since the show has gotten more heart, we now have to disguise it as a birthday party so the wait staff doesn't spill spoilers."

Another photo posted by Reedus at the beginning of August has seemingly confirmed the theory that Hershel will be killed off, as the photos show Hershel at a day of filming on set. The first shows him lounging around in a dirty shirt, and a second, posted a day later shows him wearing the same shirt but clearly with a lot more blood on it. That has led many to believe that Hershel will be killed off in the coming season.

The new season of AMC's runaway zombie hit, "The Walking Dead," will premiere Oct. 13.
