'Welcome to the Ballroom' Anime Spoilers: Chinatsu and Akira's Past to Be Revealed in Next Episode

The Tokyo Metropolitan DanceSport Tournament has begun, and although the Tatara–Chinatsu team's performance has significantly improved, the same cannot be said about their partnership on the Japanese sports anime series, "Ballroom e Youkoso (Welcome to the Ballroom)." Will they ever be able to find the perfect compromise?

There is never any doubt that both Tatara and Chinatsu are good dancers with a heart for their chosen path and a determination to succeed. However, while this may seem to be quite enough to help them pull through every competitive performance, they are still lacking one crucial aspect of dancing with a partner: trust.

In the previous episode, it has become clear that Chinatsu does not only lack trust in her partner, but Tatara himself still seems to lack the confidence in his own ability to lead. And until the two of them can really discuss this matter seriously and fix their own views about their partnership, they will never be able to reach their true potentials, both as dance partners and individual performers.

But what is it exactly that's been keeping Chinatsu from settling into her new role? It is no secret that she used to dance the lead with her former dance partner, Akira. However, the reason behind their eventual separation has not been revealed and is something that the next episode, titled "Rival," will finally rectify.

The preview shows Chinatsu watching her former partner performing on the dance floor while possibly reminiscing about their past friendship.

What made them decide to dance together? Did Chinatsu choose to be the lead, or was he just thrust into it for lack of a better option? Just what kind of dance partnership did the two of them have, and what can possibly cause such a bond to break?

"Welcome to the Ballroom" airs on Sundays at 11:30 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX. Information on other broadcast schedules and online resources can be found on the series' official site. Episodes are also available for regions outside Japan via Amazon Prime's Anime Strike service.
