'Westworld' Season 2 News, Premiere: Evan Rachel Wood Says Series Will Return in Spring 2018

Since "Westworld" came to a close, fans have been wondering when the series will return for its sophomore season. Earlier this week, one of its stars, Evan Rachel Wood, confirmed on Twitter that "Westworld" season 2 would premiere sometime in spring of 2018.

It has been a while since "Westworld" season 2 kicked off production, but neither HBO nor the producers of the series have issued a press release as to when the series will return. On Nov. 7, a devout fan of the series took to Twitter to ask Wood what fans like her have been clamoring to know — when the season 2 premiere will be. Tagging Wood, the fan wrote, "Can you please tell us when Westworld will be returning?! I'm going crazy!"

Although Wood did not give an exact premiere date for the new season, she assured the fan that the series would return next year. In response to her tweet, she wrote, "Spring 2018."

A spring 2018 premiere date for "Westworld" season 2 is earlier than expected. It can be recalled that the debut season of the series premiered sometime in October, and since the succeeding seasons of a TV series normally follow the footsteps of the debut season, most fans thought that the next season of "Westworld" would also premiere in October of next year.

Recently, it was reported that production for season 2 was halted to give new key cast member Zahn McClarnon more time to recover following a head injury that he had sustained during a fall in his home. While the production halt has led to speculations that "Westworld 2" might be postponed, Wood's recent tweet confirms that the it is not knocking the show off schedule.

"Westworld" season 2 is expected to be the next big thing on HBO as it reportedly will take over "Game of Thrones" once the series comes to an end.
