Why is Jennifer Morrison Leaving 'Once Upon a Time'?
Jennifer Morrison star of ABC's fairytale-inspired drama "One Upon a Time" is leaving after six seasons. How she will exit the show as Emma Swan, however, remains a mystery.
Swan, the prophesied one, the Savior of the enchanted forest and all its inhabitants, will no longer be the lead of the fantasy series. In May, Morrison announced that she has chosen not to reprise her role as Swan, as she saw it was time to move on after six years with the show.
"I've been transitioning into doing more directing, I've had some opportunities that I've passed up along the years in order to fulfill these network schedules, and I really had to weigh where I was in my life," she told Deadline. "I'm just at an age and a time in my life where I want to be home, I want to be with my family and my friends, to have a chance to have a personal life for a while, and also wanted to be available to do other creative things."

Morrison has agreed to appear in one final episode in season 7. Apart from that, she assured fans that she will continue to appear in fan conventions, that is, if her schedule permits.
The actress' decision to depart is basically the reason behind the reboot. It is why the upcoming season will deviate from the storyline viewers have grown accustomed to.
Rumors has it Swan will make the ultimate sacrifice in the end to restore order back in the enchanted realm. This, of course, has yet to be confirmed.
Although Morrison is no longer a series regular, familiar faces will return, including Lana Parrilla as Regina a.k.a. the Evil Queen, who will now be known as Roni. Colin O'Donoghue who played Killian/Captain Hook, Emma's husband, will now play Rogers. Robert Carlyle will be back as the conniving Mr. Gold also known as Rumplestiltskin.
