Willow Smith, 13, in Bed With Shirtless Actor Moises Arias, 20, on Instagram: Innocent or Inappropriate?
Willow Smith, 13, was seen lying in bed with a shirtless Moises Arias, a 20-year-old actor, in a recent Instagram photo, and the picture has sparked controversy across social media sites and media outlets alike. The 13-year-old singer is the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who are notorious for treating their children like adults and letting them make their own decisions, but some critics feel it's time for the Smiths to rein in their independent teen.
Willow Smith is seen in the photo fully clothed and laying on top of the covers while Arias, the 20-year-old former "Hannah Montana" star, is shirtless and seemingly under the covers next to her. The pictures originally were found on a Tumblr page, but once Arias posted them on his personal Instagram account, the speculation began.
"We get it, kids grow up fast in Hollywood – but they don't have to!" wrote PerezHilton.com. "Not like this, anyway!"
"It is not okay for children to lay in bed with grown men— regardless of how they know each other," CelebrityDirtyLaundry agreed.
"Is Willow Smith going to be the youngest Hollywood celebrity to go off the rails?" FishWrapper criticized.
The controversy prompted Arias to delete the picture from his Instagram account, especially after some of his followers repeatedly called the picture "perverted." Others, though, defended the shot, pointing out that Arias and Willow's older brother Jaden Smith have been friends for some time. In addition, there are shirtless pictures of Jaden on the Tumblr account along with shots of Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
The pictures were apparently taken in Calabasas, California at Coachella earlier this year, with the photo of Smith and Arias taken by a friend.
Willow Smith has been known for having her own style and independence— the teeny bopper has dyed her hair green, pink and yellow, chopped off all her hair, gotten a tongue piercing, and much more. With her latest stunt, do you think her parents should step in? Or is this a case of innocent and artistic photos being over-analyzed?
