WWE Confirms Emma, Darren Young, Summer Rae's Release

Long-time female wrestlers Emma, Darren Young, and Summer Rae were released from their respective WWE contracts on Oct. 29, Sunday, as confirmed by the WWE on the same day via its official website. Although the release was no surprise for both Young and Rae whose last matches happened several months ago, it was somewhat unexpected for Emma, who appeared just recently in TLC.

Young's last appearance on the wrestling ring was last Jan. 16 when she taped a Main Event wrestling match. On the other hand, the Internet Wrestling Database recently noted that Summer's latest wrestling match took place more than a year ago on Aug. 14, 2016.

As for Emma, the female fighter appeared last week in two high-profile matches with Asuka. On Oct. 22, she faced off with the Empress of Tomorrow at "TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs" and lost. She also suffered the same fate in their second match the following day on Raw.

According to wrestling expert Justin Labar, the result of Emma's final matches with Azuka is now even more confusing because of the sudden announcement of her departure from WWE. Labar took to Twitter to suggest that the direction of the match seemed to have hinted that WWE had plans to make her look like a threat in the women's division, so it was surprising that she was suddenly released from the WWE.

"Emma's release sure makes me wish Asuka would have beaten her in about 90 seconds rather than 10 minutes at TLC. Makes more sense for Asuka," said Labar.

Meanwhile, the longtime WWE wrestlers hinted on social media that they had actually expected to be released prior to WWE's official announcement. Three days before the announcement, Rae tweeted, "You need to understand that life isn't what you're given; it's what you create, what you overcome, and what you achieve that makes it beautiful."
