'WWE Live' Returning to India: Will Feature Jinder Mahal, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Alexa Bliss
WWE and Sony Pictures Networks confirmed that "WWE Live" is returning to India with two shows this December.
"Following overwhelming demand from our massive and passionate fan base in India, we are excited to bring WWE Live back to New Delhi for two shows of spectacular, non-stop, family-friendly entertainment," Sheetesh Srivastava, Vice President and General Manager of WWE India confirmed. "I know our fans cannot wait to fill the Indira Gandhi Stadium and welcome back their favorite WWE Superstars."
WWE rakes in one of the highest TV viewership in India. It is second only to cricket.
Reigning WWE Champion Jinder Mahal also known as "The Modern-Day Maharaja" will participate in the series of events in the country. He will be joined by Samir & Sunil Singh. Prior to the December events, WWE COO Triple H announced that the aforementioned wrestlers will be in India from Oct. 10 to 13 to meet the press.
In a statement, Mahal said he is honored to represent his country every time he steps into the ring and it's a privilege to perform in front of his people live.
Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Dead Ambrose, Braun Strowman, Alexa Bliss, and Sasha Banks are among the WWE Superstars who have signed on to the December "Live" events in India.
Sony Pictures Networks India is offering WWE shows such as "Raw," "SmackDown Live," "WWE Main Event," "Total Divas," and monthly specials like "WrestleMania," and "SummerSlam" on Sony TEN 1 and Sony MAX.
Prior to this, the network offered a program called "WWE Sunday Dhamaal" on Sony MAX, which replays weekly highlights in Hindi.
"WWE Live" events will take place on Friday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
