WWE News and Updates 2016: Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton at Backlash 2016? PPV Match Prediction, TV Schedule

The Eater of Worlds needs a big break.

If there was a contest for the most frustrating superstar storylines in the WWE, Bray Wyatt would win by landslide. By then, he would have won the first major feud he had ever been involved in.

With one important loss and the Wyatt Family splitting, the Eater of Worlds is still far from the main event superstar everyone expected him to be. However, recent events might finally launch him on the road to WrestleMania - or at least, Backlash.

Last week on SmackDown Live, Wyatt interrupted WWE veteran Randy Orton's speech, prompting fans to wonder if a confrontation between Wyatt and the Viper is in the works.

The good news is it might already be a done deal. A Wyatt vs. Orton match is reportedly being advertised for the upcoming WWE Backlash.

Bad blood

When Wyatt came back to NXT in 2013, the wrestler once known as Husky Harris returned with a different persona. He was already an NXT alum and even cracked the WWE roster via the failed invasion of the Nexus.

In April 2011, the New Nexus was formed under the leadership of CM Punk. However, in April 2011, Randy Orton decided to get his revenge on the stable for costing him his title. Right after a WWE Tag Team Championship loss, Orton attacked Harris and Michael McGillicutty (Curtis Axel). As an exclamation point, Orton punted Harris in the skull, supposedly injuring him and writing him out of the storyline.

This history may become pivotal to a brewing feud between the two superstars. If WWE shapes it perfectly, Wyatt could be the vengeful Husky Harris all along, bidding his time to go after the Apex Predator.

While this could be Wyatt's much-awaited push with the company, Orton may need it as much as he does.

Expectations

A feud between Orton and Wyatt would play right into their characters. Wyatt is the leader of a hillbilly mafia, capitalizing on the fears of his opponents. Orton, meanwhile, has "voices in his head" which Wyatt can choose to play with.

Aside from this, both men had gone through tough times in the ring. Wyatt had huge feuds in the past, notably Daniel Bryan, The Undertaker and John Cena. He even faced the latter at WrestleMania XXX. However, the Eater of Worlds lost all of his high-profile encounters.

Orton, meanwhile, just suffered a brutal beating from Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, going home with 10 staples on a head wound.

A win for Wyatt, however, may finally launch him to main event contention. Orton could also be the perfect superstar to push him over, given the star's reputation and aging career.

WWE Backlash is set on September 11 at Richmond, Virginia. Kickoff show starts at 7 p.m. EST/4 p.m. PST, while the main show starts at 8:00 p.m. EST/4 p.m. PST, exclusively on WWE Network.
